This resource is dedicated solely to the provision of information relating to gorillas, gorilla permits and gorilla trekking in Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC. We’re a gorilla permits company assisting intending gorilla trekkers to Uganda, Rwanda and DRC with their gorilla trekking requirements, including but not limited to acquisition of gorilla permits, providing information relating to gorilla permits and the gorilla tracking process, advising availability of gorilla permits for tracking in Bwindi Uganda, Volcanoes National Park Rwanda and Virunga National Park in DRC.

We have offices located in Kampala Uganda and Kigali Rwanda with a dedicated small team of staff that keep our operations running with military precision. Our staff are proficient tourism professionals who have been planning and executing gorilla tours in Uganda, Rwanda and DRC since 2008. We have amongst our staff experienced and seasoned guides who know gorilla trekking guidelines for tracking gorillas in Bwindi, Volcanoes National Park and Virunga like the back of their hands. We tap into their extensive hands-on knowledge to provide you with a dedicated service when you choose to visit Uganda, Rwanda or DRC to track the gorillas. We also assist clients who may choose to track the lowland gorillas of Kahuzi Biega National Park in South Kivu DRC.

Uganda, Rwanda and DRC are home to the world’s largest popular of mountain gorillas and lowland gorillas in South Kivu DRC. Rwanda, Uganda and DRC are thus extremely popular destinations for tourists seeking to see the rare mountain gorillas in their natural habitat in the mountain ranges of Bwindi, Virunga, Mgahinga and Volcanoes National Parks. Every year thousands of visitors flock to Uganda, Rwanda and DRC for a chance to catch a glimpse of the gentle giants of the Virunga upclose and personal. Tracking the gorillas in Bwindi Uganda, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga in DRC provides a once in a lifetime memorable experience for visitors who get to see these rare and endangered animals, while at the same time generating much needed revenue to continue the work of renowned conservationist Dian Fossey in the conservation of the mountain gorillas. We therefore encourage as many visitors as possible, who can afford to make this trip to do so in great numbers and as many times as they can afford, plus most importantly return home to their home countries and encourage others to do so.

We encourage you to use our gorilla permit purchase service as it is hassle free, fast, reliable, responsive and extremely efficient, saving you the trouble of endless unanswered telephone calls and emails to the official organisations. Ours is a lean and responsive service that seeks to take the stress out of gorilla permit purchase.

We ask for a small administrative fee of US$50 per gorilla permit to enable us pay modest wages to our dedicated team of staff, pay rent for our offices and the fuel we require to make numerous visits to UWA’s offices in Kampala and RDB’s offices in Kigali. We create the much needed employment for the mostly ladies that we employ in our offices in Kampala and Kigali.

A gorilla permit costs US$700 in Uganda, US$1500 in Rwanda and US$450 in DRC. We have clients with deep pockets who choose to trek sometimes in all 3 countries or any 2 countries giving them an opportunity to see the gorillas in 2 or 3 different settings. We are more than happy to arrange gorilla permits for you for any trekking location for as many gorilla permits as you wish. We also cater for groups that may be visiting the gorillas and will acquire any number of gorilla permits for large groups, subject to gorilla permits availability for your preferred gorilla trekking date.

What is a gorilla permit?

What exactly is a gorilla permits and why do you need one?

A gorilla permit is a ticket that admits one into either Bwindi National Park in Uganda, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda or Virunga National Park in DRC to visit with the gorillas. These gorilla permits are a hot item especially during the peak travel months of June, July, August, September, December and January. We therefore recommend that you contact us early enough with your gorilla trip requirements so that we purchase your gorilla permits for you well in advance before they sell out.  Upon purchase of your gorilla permit, we shall send you copies of the same and you will receive the originals of your gorilla permits on arrival to Uganda, Rwanda and DRC.

A gorilla permit allows you to spend 1 hour in the company of the gorillas that you will be trekking.  In addition to gorilla tracking, one if able to participate in gorilla habituation experience which also require acquiring gorilla habituation permits. Gorilla habituation is the process of conditioning mountain gorillas to the presence of humans. Gorilla habituation is the precursor to visitors to safely trek the gorillas. Gorilla habituation permits are much more expensive than regular gorilla permits as they permit visitors to spend 4 hours with the gorillas compared to the 1 hour that regular gorilla trekking visitors do.

If you can afford US$1500, we invite you to participate in the gorilla habituation exercise in Uganda so that the gorillas can slowly but surely get used to human presence while at the same time benefiting from the extended 4hrs time permitted to spend with the gorillas during the gorilla habituation experience.

In order to purchase a gorilla permits for tracking gorillas in Bwindi or Mgahinga National Parks in Uganda, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, Virunga National Park or Kahuzi Biega National Park in DRC, please drop us an email or watsapp with preferred gorilla trekking date, number of gorilla permits required and any other requirements. We shall quickly check availability for you and revert with you in less than 4 hours during the week, Monday to Friday. In the case of Uganda, we shall advise gorilla permits available for each gorilla family in case you have a sector where you prefer to track the gorillas.

If you are ready to proceed, we shall send you an invoice with our banking details for our bank either in London UK or Kampala Uganda to enable you speedily get funds to us. As soon as we receive your payment for gorilla permits, we shall speedily purchase the gorilla permits without any delay and send you proof pf payment of the gorilla permits. You will receive copies of your gorilla permits on arrival to Entebbe, Kampala, or Kigali. Our dedicated staff will deliver your permits to your hotel as part of the gorilla permits purchase administrative fee that we charge for your convenience.

Cancellation of gorilla permits.

Most clients would perhaps wish to know whether they can cancel their gorilla permits after purchasing them with us. Please note that gorilla permits payments are paid to UWA or RDB and they are charged with issuing of the gorilla permits. Incase of a cancellation it is these official permits issuing organisations that would be charged with refunding your payment. We are only able to refund to you if UWA or RDB effect a refund for the gorilla permit. During COVID 19 clients were able to reschedule their gorilla tracking dates to future trekking dates upon officially writing a notification letter to UWA or RDB requesting for a chance of gorilla tracking date. We were acting as intermediaries for this process.

UWA gorilla permits refund policy.

1. Cancellations 3 months before trekking date will receive up to 75% refund.
2. Cancellation 1.5 months before trekking date, a 50% refund will be effected.
3. Cancellation 1 month before trekking date will attract only a 25% refund.
4. Cancellation within 7 days before trekking date, no refund.

A gorilla permits covers park entrance and payment to the gorilla tracking guides. No additional payment is required. Porters are available at a small fee to assist with carrying luggage on gorilla tracking day. You are expected to organise your own transportation for getting from the park headquarters to the gorilla tracking trailheads and back. We provide self drive and with driver 4x4 car hire if required at very competitive rates from Kigali, Entebbe and Kampala.

Currently the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) the organisation responsible for tourism in Uganda issues 152 gorilla permits per day visiting 19 habituated gorilla families spread over 4 sectors of Bwindi National Park . A maximum of 8 visitors can visit any particular gorilla family per day.

There are 8 gorilla habituation permits available each day for Bwindi national park organised in 2 habituation gorilla families. Mgahinga National Park is home to 1 gorilla group offering a total of 8 permits daily.
